Job Description — PAID INTERNSHIP
Tasks and Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for working with clients with special needs and the volunteers who accompany each client to every activity, whether or not on horseback. The Assistant will participate in individual therapeutic riding sessions as well as the twice weekly family “Ther-A-Play Dates” and a weekend overnight Sensory Camp. Assistant will be responsible for confidential digital record keeping of client activities and progress. The candidate will have to be organized and have good communication skills as well as feel comfortable around animals, children with disabilities and their parents. Due to the funding restrictions and specialized nature of this work, only candidates between the ages of 18 and 30 with experience in equine assisted learning will be considered. The applicant must be an accomplished equine handler and be pursuing certification in the field of equine assisted learning. Due to the specialized nature of this work, only candidates with some experience in therapeutic riding instruction will be considered. They must be pursuing certification in the field and as such, will receive higher remuneration than the other summer student workers.
Wages: $20 per hour, plus MERCs
