Fern Jordan, local stained glass artist, donated a beautiful panel showing horses in full gallop and it was raffled off this summer to raise money towards a new program at Hinchinbrook Farm.
There is a segment of the population who have difficulty accessing therapeutic riding since there are very few funding sources for which they qualify. These are adult children still living at home with intellectual challenges. We know that they benefit from the mental and physical health gains from riding, and yet they can rarely afford it.
The raffle was the first step to raising money to help mount a program for these people, who can benefit from the down time the horses have while our regular visitors are at school. Our grant writer is looking to other places for further funding. (To donate to the new project, click here>>
